The Heritage Wind team, along with Apex Clean Energy is excited to announce the recipients of our latest Community Grant Award! The organizations listed below were selected out of an incredibly competitive list of applicants and represent some of the best work being done in your community.

The Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association has been hosting “Walk to End Alzheimer” events in Orleans County since 2007. The organization raised awareness for this horrible disease and offers support to individuals that have been diagnosed along with their families.

The Town of Barre Park was built in the early 2000s and currently has 3 baseball/softball fields, a pavilion and a small playground area.  The goal of the Town is to provide a new playground structure that more kids can use.

Orleans Koinonia Kitchen opened this past June. Since then, they have done tremendous work in the community supplying dinners every Thursday night for those in need. The kitchen is looking forward to adding more freezer space and purchasing paper products to help distribute more meals not only for those that visit the kitchen, but also to be able to deliver to those who are unable to make it.

The Cobblestone Society and Museum was founded in 1960, and is a National Historic Landmark rooted in the history of cobblestone masonry and committed to the preservation and promotion of Western New York history and culture through: inspirational and transformational interactions with visitors that foster curiosity about the past, meaningful partnerships that engage diverse groups and organizations throughout our community, and responsible stewardship of our historic treasures to ensure our past is secured for the enjoyment of future generations. The museum is looking forward to expanding their welcome center with a media center to share with visitors everything the museum has to offer.

These grant awardees join the long list of Orleans County organizations including Orleans Community Health, the Albion Betterment Committee, Town of Barre Historic Society, ARC of Genesee and Orleans, plus many more who have received a Heritage Wind community grant.
